Place: Cheerio’s Back to School Barbecue at the local park’s pavilion.
Rosebud is at the dessert table chatting it up with one of the Moms. When she comes back to the table, I ask her what they were discussing.
Rosebud: Oh, she was just talking about how nobody brought any knives for their dessert dishes.
Me: I did.
Rosebud: Oh, was it a real metal knife? Because that’s the only one up there.
Me: Yes. It was slightly bent, so I figured I wouldn’t mind just leaving it here.
Rosebud: Oh, was that the knife you tried to bend with your mind?
Me: Why, yes. Yes, it was.
Side note: I once read a book (I cannot remember the title or author) that discussed the power of “wordlessness.” It asserted that if you could achieve true “wordlessness” you could harness more fully the power of your mind and bend a stainless steel utensil like it was made of butter.
Additional side notes:
- I am unable to achieve true wordlessness.
- Or the true power of my brain is not all that strong.
- When frustrated, I am able to ever so slightly bend a butter knife with my bare hands.
- I have questionable reading preferences.
